Welcome to the Timeless Tales: An Inter-generational Interview Challenge, where we bridge the generational gap through storytelling. We invite you to connect with seniors, uncovering wisdom and history across time. Engage with stories that span generations to capture life's essence, cultural heritage, and personal growth. Submissions are due by July 1, 2025. Afterward, a panel of judges will assess projects for storytelling excellence and emotional depth. Winners, announced on August 3, 2025, will be featured on the Gen=Bridgeway website, earning the honor of contributing to a legacy of shared wisdom and stories.
Invitation:
Your adventure begins with the selection of a senior participant. This individual could be a grandparent, a neighbor, or a resident in a local senior home, someone with a wealth of life experiences and insights to share. This step is about making that initial connection, setting the stage for a journey filled with discovery and mutual respect.
Conversation:
With your participant chosen, the next step is to engage in a deep discussion. This involves preparing questions that are both thoughtful and wide-ranging, designed to elicit stories about historical events, personal achievements, cultural traditions, and the valuable lessons learned along life's way. Choosing a format that's comfortable for both of you—be it video, audio, or written—ensures that the conversation flows naturally and authentically.
Creation:
Armed with the insights gathered during your interview, it's time to craft your narrative. This creative phase is about more than just recounting facts; it's about weaving together a compelling story that captures the emotions, challenges, and triumphs shared by your interviewee. Your aim should be to create a narrative that not only honors the individual's experiences but also highlights the universal connections that link their story with ours, across different generations.
Celebration:
The final step of your journey is to share the fruits of your labor by submitting your project by July 1, 2025. This act of sharing is a celebration in itself, recognizing the effort, creativity, and empathy involved in bringing these stories to light. It's an opportunity to showcase the rich tapestry of inter-generational narratives to a wider audience, further bridging the gap between the past and the present.
